Laugh Shoalhaven has been conceived to raise awareness of a serious health issue that is on the increase yet accepted as normal behaviour within our society - "Alcohol Abuse." There are many reasons why people abuse alcohol. Stress relief, a support to overcome feelings of social inadequacy, a way to be accepted within a certain peer group. The growth in numbers of people drinking to harmful levels is reflected in all age groups within our community. This is not just an Indigenous or low socio-economic problem as some people tend to think, but a whole community problem in our society. A positive community message about "A RESPONSIBLE APPROACH" to alcohol conveyed through laughter will assist the key messages to be more readily accepted.
